Course Description

Students will learn about the historical links taught at AHS with emphasis on the following:  Old Testament, Bible into English, Explorers and discovery of the Americas, Jamestown, John Smith, Pocahontas, Lewis and Clark, Founding Fathers, Declaration of Independence, and U. S. Constitution.

Second Grade History

Objectives

Students will learn about self-government and how historical figures governed themselves and others.

Students will develop chronological thinking through understanding the past, present, and future.  

Students will learn about the prophets in the Old Testament and prepare a devotional for parents.

Students will explore and identify historical figures and how God used events in history to bring about His purposes. 

Students will learn primarily through discussions, presentation, projects, notebook pages, and celebrations.

Mrs. Sara Fenn

Sara Fenn has a bachelor’s degree in Health Science from Brigham Young University. After raising her six children, she went back to school and got a master’s degree in education from the University of Utah and taught second, fourth and sixth grades. Sara left teaching when her husband, Jerry, was called to preside over the Illinois Chicago Mission and then the Salt Lake City Headquarters Mission. Sara is excited to be teaching second grade students where she can share her testimony as well as academic principles. Sara enjoys spending time with her 19 grandchildren, cooking, quilting and traveling. She is thrilled to be part of the American Heritage School team.
