Tour Overview

Students in Grades 7–9 are invited to participate in American Heritage School’s “Summer Shakespeare Festival Tour,” July 25–26, 2023. The tour will be a powerful learning and bonding experience for our students and parent chaperones.

Summer tours are educational. Although students enjoy tours with peers, the tour is not designed as a summer vacation. Please register your student for this trip if he or she wants to experience the power of drama, learn more about Shakespeare’s legacy, and be willing to follow the rules established for this trip.

In order to enjoy this experience, students need to be willing to do the following. First, they need the capacity and desire to sit quietly through three professional theatrical performances lasting between two and three hours each. Second, they must be willing to stay with their chaperone. Finally, they must observe a strict lights-out policy at 11:00 p.m. Students will be asked not to access hotel televisions. If a student fails to follow the rules, their parent will be called to pick them up and they will forfeit any remaining portion of the trip and any attached ticket or hotel cost.

Please be aware that cell phones will be collected before the drive to and from Cedar City, before each of the plays, and before lights-out. Cell phones will be returned to students at appropriate times so that they may contact parents and take photographs.

Our ability to conduct this activity depends on taking self-governed, educationally motivated students. It also depends, in large part, upon cooperation from parents and the timeliness of your responses. The sooner we are able to make reservations, the more likely we will be able to reserve hotel rooms and get seating together at the theatrical events.
